We went to a trail nearby our house. It was a reserve with a lot of trails actually, I thought I had chosen a short trail.
It had been a crazy day. I woke up at 4:50am to workout and shower before the girls woke up. At 8am I taught a writing lesson to my sister E. She is homeschooled and living with us. I tried to get Charlee down for a nap before the girls’ music class but she was just so grumpy and wouldn’t stop crying. Boy oh boy Millie was having a morning too. I was hoping music class would be a reset for them, but no luck. Millie just wanted to chew on her sock for some reason so I took it off but she just chewed on her big toe instead.
Later in the afternoon there was so much whining. I decided to go ahead and try going on a walk anyway, hoping it might cheer the girls up and help me cool down too.
Now back to where I started. I thought I had chosen a short trail so I let Charlee out of the baby carrier to walk.

This was the kind of trail with plaques with nature facts of them and Charlee was way more interested in touching those than walking. I said “yeah Charlee, a plaque” then she wouldn’t stop saying it “a pack! A pack!”. When I realized the trail was longer than I originally thought I tried to put her in the baby carrier but she wasn’t having it.
On the other hand, Millie ran almost the entire first mile. E was with me so we each just took a kid. I was so glad Millie was getting so much exercise. I was beginning to think this is just what she needed to get her out of her bad mood.

Well on top of picking a longer trail then I meant to we went about half a mile the wrong way because I didn’t check the map/gps after we turned. We were about 2 miles from the car when I realized this.

Eventually I just put Charlee in she carrier even though she was screaming and clawing me and after about 10 mins she fell asleep. She also got chocolate zbar all over me.
Millie complained the whole way back that she hates hiking and didn’t want to walk. I carried her on my back for a few minutes but she doesn’t hold on at all so it couldn’t last for long. I kept telling her she was so strong and I knew her feet could get her to the car!
Overall it was a little over 4 miles which is the longest I’ve ever taken Millie. Luckily there was no elevation gain. I’m the end Millie said she wishes she stayed home but that she is STRONG. I hope she is at least a little proud of herself. I sure am! It was a long way for her to walk.
