Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Holy cowlito I cannot believe it’s been 6 years. In many ways it feels like it’s been so much longer. I can’t imagine life without Conrad. So fair warning, obviously a mushy post is ahead.

Conrad and I in 2016

Well, Conrad and I are both very indecisive and slow to commit, but when it came to getting married we jumped in pretty fast. I overthink everything, but marrying Conrad was a no-brainer. No one else could compare to his kind and gentle heart. It just felt right.

Looking back on this year we both agree it’s our favorite year of marriage so far. We worked together really well and were very thankful for each other. A huge milestone was buying a house. We had an impossible time frame but together, and with our awesome realtor, it worked out. I am absolutely in love with the home we are creating. The pitter patter (and big stomps) of little feet running through the halls, tickles fights with dad on the living room floor, picnics in the yard, campfires in the evenings, and projects on Saturdays.

I am just so glad to have Conrad by my side through everything. I know I can tell him anything. I know I will always find a comforting hug and shoulder to cry on, even though I cry a lot.

The biggest challenge of being married to Conrad is that he tells the same jokes over and over like a broken record. Like anytime I say I’m going to call someone (on the phone obviously) the conversation goes like this:

Me: I’m going to call my sister

Conrad: What are you going to call her

There’s over a dozen of these situations that trigger the same joke from him.

The hardest part of the past year of marriage has been getting enough time together. Conrad works so hard and it seems like the norm is 10 hour work days, 12 hours isn’t unusual either.

I think the best part of the past year of marriage has been watching the girls grow up together. We are obsessed with them. Like laughing so hard together about something funny Millie said or cheering for Charlee when she did her first summersault.

I am so excited to see what the next year brings, and all the years to come.
